I get it!! I encourage planning activities like hiking (have a scavenger hunt and look for specific trees, leaves, wildlife, etc), plan old-school outdoor games (kickball), nighttime games using glow sticks. Have everyone take pictures during the outing so you can print them out and display them at home to enjoy (and seeing those photos at home gets them excited about the next outing). Getting the kids involved in the planning helps, too - even going grocery shopping for campfire supplies gets them into the anticipation of the trip. Have each child pick a snack or help plan a meal - most of the planning you can get the kids on board to help with. Rather them telling them this is what we're going to do, give them choices - if they help plan and make decisions, they're more likely to get excited. |
