It's always best for both you and your companions to be prepared to safely enter the wilderness, even when your companion is a furry friend. I have a few steps I take to keep my Golden Retriever safe while camping: ~Reflective color and leash ~Dog food=bear food, so take the necessary precautions with securing it ~Double check that your first aid kit is prepped for both humans and pets ~Periodically check their paws for any injury ~Conduct an end of the day check for ticks ~Train them to return to the sound of something louder than your voice, such as a whistle or horn
And remember your loyal friend will always be at your side, so if a trail is a bit too risky for you, it's too risky for them.
Does anyone have any other helpful tips? |
