Air Camping
Here's an interesting one: air camping.
Supposedly, there are pilots out there who love to fly and love to camp. Put them together and they fly to unique airports in beautiful settings and camp at the airport. Seems like a great and fun idea if you have the money!

Re: Air Camping
Does sound kind of interesting, IF, the "airport" is a grass landing strip, in the middle of nowhere, I don't think I'd be all that thrilled with "Camping" at a metropolitan airport, if they'd even let you.

Your saying that there are campgrounds with landing strips and plane parking?

Re: Air Camping
How cool. I just searched for Air Camping on the web. There are more than 900 airports across the United States that permit on-field camping and 160 seaplane bases.

It's the other way round. Airports that allow on-site (tent) camping. They apparently have amenities, but I don't know what!

Re: Air Camping
There is now an American Air Campers Association to protect the rights of air campers and help them plan their trips. Sounds like they're serious about it..

Re: Air Camping
I'd imagine there are some great camping landing strips in Alaska.
